The Groomsman

Groomsman

The wedding day is jammed packed with activities and moves by very quickly. As wedding photographers we tend to focus on the bride and groom as they are the stars of the day. However it is likely the last time some of the guests and those in the wedding party took a professional picture was when they were 5 years old. Time permitting I always try to create portraits of the wedding party. This image was made at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown Houston Texas across from the Magnolia Hotel. There was a nice soft light coming from a large church window at the back of the church. Taking advantage of the light I created some nice portraits for the bridesmaids and groomsmen. For the photographers out there my camera settings were Canon 5D Mark II fitted with the 70-200 2.8 Canon IS lens at 145mm, F3.5 @ 1/50 second, ISO 3200.  Enjoy!

Laguna Gloria Engagement Photo Session with Nkenji and Bolaji

Located near Mount Bonnell and Mayfield gardens the Austin Museum of Art (AMOA) – Laguna Gloria has some of the most beautiful park grounds in central Texas. This Mediterranean style villa includes a mile of Lake Austin shoreline and is an amazing location for weddings. The beautiful grounds makes it a perfect location for capturing engagement photos. The grounds and building provides an endless opportunity for creating pictures and is certainly a photographers dream location.

So Nkenji and Bolaji met me at Laguna Gloria for their engagement photo session. We had a truly fun filled engagement session. I kept cracking them up and they kept laughing which made for some very relaxed portraits. Engagement photo sessions are meant to be fun and this one did not disappoint. I always want my bride and groom to look back at their engagement pictures and forever remember the joy and optimism they shared before their wedding. This was easy to pull off with Nkenji and Bolaji as they are soo much in love. I am looking forward to photographing their wedding in Dallas later this summer. After a walk around the park we then left for the MLK train station. Although light rail has finally come to Austin the trains have not started operating so we had the entire platform to ourselves. If you are looking for a location in Austin Texas to create some beautiful engagement pictures, The villa and grounds at Laguna Gloria should certainly be on your short list. Here are a few picture your Austin wedding photographer  captured on that day.

As we took pictures on the platform at the MLK train station, we could not pass up this photo op  when a Union Pacific train came by. We were not expecting any trains on the railroad but it made for a neat picture.

The Dress, the Lady and the Photographer at Krause Springs

Recently I got an opportunity to photograph at the truly picturesque Krause Springs which is located near Spicewood Texas about 34 miles west of Austin. You remember photographed Loni and Cameron’s  fairytale wedding Krause Springs last fall. This time my photography buddies William Bay and Laura Burlton were camping at the park and Laura and William had organized a Trash the dress session (TTD). If you are wondering what a Trash The Dress session is you are probably not alone. It is a photo shoot where the bride wears her beautiful wedding dress once again for a no holes barred photo shoot. The dress is not necessarily trashed as it can often be dry cleaned after the shoot however the inhibitions and care of the wedding day are gone and the focus is on creating incredible images which add an unconventional touch to the wedding album. TTD for short has become very popular with brides with many brides picking out their own locations for a post wedding shoot. This time around we had a model, Seasha was a great sport and willing to try all the crazy ideas we had. Here are some of pictures from the session.
