Wedding Reception at the Terrace Club in Driftwood

Destinations weddings are quite popular and certainly provide a way to spice up your wedding day. The resorts and surroundings of most destination weddings are beautiful and thus pictures taken at these location can be very exotic to say the least. One key drawback to a destination wedding is that sometimes several family members and friends cannot make it. Apart from the physical aspects of travel, there are several associated challenges that can arise like visas, passports and the cost of travel. Jessica and Ryan were married in Costa Rica they however wanted to have a reception so they could celebrate their nuptials with friends and family who could not make the wedding in Costa Rica. Jessica put on her dress once again at the Terrace Club in Driftwood. She and Ryan greeted their guests in a fun filled evening. Here are a few images I captured for them. wedding photographer austin.

Saint Williams Catholic Church in Round Rock

saint-williams-catholic-church-2

Are you planning a wedding at Catholic Church in Austin or Round Rock Texas then I am hoping you are a member of the parish at Saint Williams in Round RockIMG_9475. There are several Catholic Churches in around the Austin area but few are as beautiful as Saint Williams. How do I know this? Well  I photographed the beautiful wedding on Joelyne and Luiso at Saint Williams and was blown away by the beautiful architecture and the stunning interior. St. William Catholic Church is located in Round Rock, Texas near Brushy Creek. Hispanics came to Round Rock and McNeil in the beginning of the 20th century to work principally in the limestone quarries. The first Mass was celebrated in 1916. You can read a detailed history about Saint Williams here.

Wedding Photography at Catholic Churches is always a challenge for any wedding photographer. There are almost always restrictions on where photographers or videographers can stand. In some Catholic Churches there is nowhere to stand but in the back. saint-williams-catholic-church-3 There is also the challenge of low light which mandates the wedding photographer you book must have low light lenses. Another issues to contend with is that most churches do not permit flash photography in the santuary when the wedding ceremony begins. Often times the photographer is allowed to use flash only during the processional and the recessional but not during the service. There are a myriad of reasons why these restrictions exist but they do exist and your photographer has to be aware of them and the challenges they pose to wedding photography on the wedding day.  I often ask my bride and groom to ask about any restrictions at the wedding location. Sometimes I get a surprised look as most people are not aware of these restrictions. That is completely understandable because most people are getting married for the first time. Saint Williams does have restrictions also the good news is that your photographer would not be stuck at the back of the church the bad news though is once the service starts there is very little movement allowed which may cause your pictures to look a bit one dimensional and boring as they all will be from the same angle.

St-Williams

When I photographed at Saint Williams, I was keenly aware of this fact and thus recommend a second photographer so that different angles where captured.Enjoy the pictures and visit PIICX Photography and the Austin Wedding Photographer if you planning a wedding at a Catholic Church or anywhere else for that matter.

Brotherhood and a wedding celebration

Weddings are usually very happy occasions and filled with much fun fare. As a wedding photographer I am always honored to capture beautiful images for my bride and groom and thankful I was chosen to be part of their beautiful celebration. Most often there is always a secondary story going on at a wedding. It could be future relationships being formed, family members reconciling after several years, tears of joy for so many reasons and so on. I photographed a wedding in San Marcos Texas a little while ago and was truly moved by the spirit of brotherhood amongst the groom and his men. You see they had all served in Iraq and had genuinely become brothers for life. Gideon was getting married and his band of brothers where here to support him all the way. In the short time I spent with them, I saw a commitment to friendship you rarely see. They all helped make the day very special and the unity amongst them left me with a very lasting impression. Photographing this group was truly an honor. They too had a story to tell in that one of their brothers did not make it back home. The brothers remembered him with a toast. At the time I remember feeling very emotional but stayed focused on the action as I had my wedding photographer cup on. There was no sadness however, everyone was back in a joyous mood again after the toast although we were all touched by their story. Here are a few images I captured on that day. Gideon’s wedding provided an opportunity for them to have a portrait made. The Austin wedding photographer thinks they will cherish these pictures for a long time to come.
